Flagstaff TREX 11/2/21
Flagstaff Prescribed Fire Training Exchange (TREX) offers firefighters the opportunity to get hands on experience in all aspects of prescribed fire, including community assessment, preparation, scouting, ignition, holding, mop-up and patrol. Participants will train with appropriate equipment, and practice fireline leadership.

TREX is hosted by Flagstaff and Summit Fire Departments, with sponsorship from the International Fire Chiefs Association and the Fire Learning Network, a joint project of The Nature Conservancy, USDA Forest Service and several agencies of U.S. Department of Interior. www.conservationgateway.org/conservationpractices/firelan...

TREX takes advantage of the strong relationships among the Flagstaff area Fire Management agencies, and provides an opportunity to strengthen those collaborative working relationships in the integral use of prescribed fire to decrease unplanned wildfire risk to communities and improve forest health.

TREX trainers and presenters represent a cross section of fire management and science agencies and organizations including Flagstaff and Summit Fire Departments, Highlands FD, US Forest Service/Coconino National Forest, National Park Service/Grand Canyon National Park and Flagstaff Area National Monuments, Northern Arizona University Ecological Restoration Institute and School of Forestry. Participants include Fire Department staff from South Dakota, Nevada, Colorado, Arizona and from the US Forest Service and The Nature Conservancy.
