Remember Green Buses?
One of my old man's cronies works with the Merseyside Transport Trust, and one of the things they do is restore and operate vintage buses.
They were having a running day today, so you could ride on a wonderful old bus at all kinds of points around the city.
We caught up with some at Allerton Parkway. This is L501, a 1962 Leyland Atlantean PDR1/1 with an MCW body (for all you bus geeks out there!).
It has been beautifully restored and really looked great.
This one is a bit before my time, but they also run some newer buses in the trust, and I know I'm getting old when I come face to face with the 1978 Atlantean buses that I used to get to school and they're considered vintage!
All respect to the men concerned for putting on a great show. Restoring old buses might seem a bit anoraky, but anoraks are responsible for about 70% of all that is still interesting in the world. Go hug a geek today. Original public domain image from Flickr
