Very early this morning we had clear skies and strong sunlight. On my way to work I saw some particularly nicely lit contrails and I realised that I just had to stop the bloody car and take a photo.
Here, you can see three contrails carving out a Z in the sky. There were dozens of contrails in the wider view, but then we are at a junction of four or five major air routes so we do see a lot of traffic.
I think I've mentioned before that sometimes flare can be used positively, and some times it's a pain in the arse. Pointing your camera straight at the sun is enough to throw out even the greatest of cameras, but the small and relatively cheap lens of the little compact didn't stand a chance. You can see three obvious big hotspots, and closer inspection will find at least another four.
