Randolph Field was an early name for Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) - Randolph, Texas, which remains the center of pilot training for the U.S. Air Force, on April 23, 2020.

Behind it is the iconic water tower/12th Flying Training Wing Headquarters, known as "The Taj Mahal"; or just &"The Taj."

This "air city" like many military bases, has its own community, including family homes, dormitories, stores, children's schools, theater, church and recreational areas such as a golf course and wildlife habitat.

The wildlife habitat is a serious safety factor for the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Wildlife Services (WS) Airport Wildlife Hazard Management Program’s, local Wildlife Biologist Michael Pacheco who uses Integrated Wildlife Damage Management (IWDM) actions and methodologies; and his experience and knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws to keep military leaders informed of historical, technical and regulatory factors involved with mitigating wildlife strike hazards for aircraft and aircrew. Additionally, military personnel transfer from base to base during their careers, Pacheco is able to retain the corporate knowledge to maintain the drive toward safer flight activities.
