The only downside is that this otherwise pleasant spot appears to be a regular dog toilet, as one after another squatted down right in front of me. The owners made a perfunctory attempt to scoop up the mess, or to throw sand on it. No doubt the beach is full of it, until the tide washes it away.

 

I am now going to walk to the soft sandy area of beach in front of the Grand, a section where dogs are banned, and sunbathe and read for the rest of this unexpectedly wonderful day.
